COVID-19 Vaccine
On this episode we are joined by Dr. Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir for a discussion on the COVID-19 vaccine. On December 11, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued the first emergency use authorization (EUA) for a vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in individuals 16 years of age and older.
Dr. Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir is currently an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Saint Joseph, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Infectious Diseases, as well as a Masters in Public Health at Wayne State University.
Addendum: It is important to note that this year's recommended flu vaccines are not live, but as mentioned on the recording, there is a live flu vaccine.
